the future of fashion is circular: our take on sustainable fashion

As we look ahead, it’s clear that the future of fashion lies in circularity—a model that not only reduces waste but extends the lifecycle of every garment. At Otherwise, we’re committed to this philosophy, making conscious choices in every step of our production process to ensure that our fashion has a positive impact on both people and the planet.

What is circular fashion?

Circular fashion focuses on designing for durability, reuse, and recycling, ensuring that clothing doesn’t end up in landfills but instead finds new life through repurposing or recycling. It’s about creating a system where garments can be repaired, reimagined, or broken down into their core materials to be used again, drastically reducing the fashion industry’s environmental footprint.

How we’re embracing circular fashion

At Otherwise, we’re turning this concept into action by integrating circularity into the heart of our design and production processes:

  • Repurposing leftover wool: For our wool jackets, we source leftover wool from larger companies that would otherwise discard excess materials. Instead of letting these high-quality materials go to waste, we give them a second life, transforming them into beautifully crafted, limited-edition outerwear.
  • Upcycling fabric from previous collections: In a similar effort to reduce waste, we upcycle leftover fabrics from our previous shirt collections and use them to line our jackets. These linings not only add a unique and personal touch to each jacket but also ensure that nothing is wasted. By incorporating these fabric remnants, we create pieces that carry a story from one collection to the next, weaving sustainability into the very fabric of our brand.
  • Durable, timeless designs: Our collections are made with longevity in mind, encouraging fewer, more thoughtful purchases. Every piece is designed to be worn and loved for years, focusing on craftsmanship and quality over fast fashion trends. By producing garments that are built to last, we contribute to reducing the cycle of overconsumption.
  • Upcycling into accessories: In addition to jackets, we repurpose old fabrics to create fashionable tote bags, continuing our commitment to minimizing waste. These totes not only reduce the need for new materials but also offer a sustainable and stylish alternative for everyday use.

Join the circular fashion movement

Circular fashion is more than just a trend—it’s a necessary shift in how we view clothing and consumption. At Otherwise, we believe that every step toward sustainability counts, and we’re proud to be part of the movement that’s transforming fashion for the better. By choosing durable, repurposed, and responsibly sourced pieces, you can help reduce waste, lower your carbon footprint, and make conscious, impactful fashion choices.

Together, we can make fashion more sustainable—one piece at a time.
